A photographer who was trying to get a shot of Justin Bieber’s Ferrari was struck by another car and killed, officials say.
The man, who has not been identified, crossed Sepulveda Blvd. in L.A. in order to snap a pic of the car because he thought Bieber had just been pulled over; turns out, Bieber wasn’t even in the car, which was instead being driven by a friend. Police told the man to go back to his own vehicle, but when he tried to cross back he was struck. No arrests have been made.
Bieber released a statement about the incident and expressed sadness at the tragedy. His vehicles have been the subject of quite a bit of scrutiny lately after an alleged high-speed chase this summer brought on by paparazzi trying to get a good shot.
“While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim,” Bieber said in his statement. “Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”
