Though tons of video game news is coming out of this week’s Gamescom conference, not much of it concerns Nintendo’s Wii U platform. Instead, the next-generation buzz continues to surround Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. Square Enix, however, bucked that trend today by releasing a new preview for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut for Wii U.
The new preview shows exactly how the re-release will play using the Wii U’s GamePad. During normal gameplay, the pad will display a map for the game. Players can edit the map on the GamePad to mark locations and edit pre-set routes. Players can also look through missions, sort inventory, and manage weapons on the unique controller.
In addition to the game management aspects, the GamePad can be used to provide the magic-senses feature that has become a hallmark of Square Enix games. Called “smart vision plus” in Human Revolution, the feature allows players to hold the GamePad up to the screen and scan for enemies behind walls.
Additional GamePad features for the Wii U version of Human Revolution include turning the pad into a sniper rifle scope, using the touch screen for the hacking mini-game, and playing the game entirely on the GamePad itself. Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut is currently scheduled for release sometime before the end of the year for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbxo 360, and PC.
