Jennifer Lopez seems to be thinking life through nowadays. After two decades of fiercely working herself into a career position that women in the past would only dream of, J-Lo is looking back on it all as a single woman.
Her new book True Love is a great place for her to start. She has been doing talk shows to promote the book, and some of the details that she spills are better than any “insider info” speculation that tabloids could cook up.
And now that ex-husband Marc Anthony is engaged again and “first heartbreak” Ben Affleck is Batman, this might be a good time to pause and reflect.
“I’m happy for [Marc],” she told New York Daily News regarding Anthony’s new engagement to girlfriend Shannon De Lima.
“Marc came back into my life three days after I should have been at the altar saying ‘I do’ to another man [Ben Affleck],” she writes in her new book. “Thinking back, maybe deep down I knew that this was a Band-Aid on the cut, that my wound hadn’t been stitched or healed.”
Marc Anthony has famously said that he knew he was going to marry Lopez when he first met her. But for years they were just friends. Then came the Bennifer split. And Marc became the rebound that lasted for seven years and produced twins.
Lopez says she knows being with her was tough, especially due to her entourage.
“There’s a lot of people in my life and that’s hard,” she told Hoda Kotb. “There’s people in the house. There’s hair and makeup. It’s a lot, I think, for someone to deal with.”
“Forget about all the outside stuff, being judged, being under scrutiny in the relationship… I guess that adds in… but I think they would say that [the entourage] was a big part of their discomfort, if there was any,” she said.
