Last year, Sony launched a slimmer PS Vita in Japan alongside the PS Vita TV micro-console. While Sony seems content to keep the Vita TV in Japan, the slimmer PS Vita is finally making its way to our shores.
Yesterday evening, Sony announced that the slimmer, lighter PS Vita would be coming to North America in the Spring. The new model is 20 percent slimmer, 15 percent lighter and features an LCD screen compared to the OLED screen found in the original model. Sony also boasts of a new battery that increases playtime to 4-6 hours compared to the original’s 3-5 hours.
Coinciding with the announcement of the new hardware, Sony also revealed that Borderlands 2 for Vita will be launching alongside the new hardware this Spring. In fact, it will be releasing a bundle that includes the new Vita, a copy of Borderlands 2, six DLC packs and an 8GB memory card for $199.
Like with all announcements, Sony has released a new trailer showcasing some of the upcoming games for PlayStation Vita. There’s not a lot here, but it’s all quality stuff with more expected to be announced later this year:
