We all know how the power of the Internet population’s voice can change opinions on a topic. Take SOPA for example — a subject where so many people have been speaking up about their opinions pertaining to how it affects them. This premise has been channeled to help continue the story of the recently aired FOX television show Terra Nova.
If you are unfamiliar with the story of Terra Nova, it is about a nuclear family living in the year 2149, where the environment is heavily polluted. The family gets a chance to travel through time to an alternative timeframe to start a new life, where Dinosaurs still rule the earth; however, there have been many complications along the way. To read more of what Terra Nova is about and how the story unfolds, please read the show’s Wikipedia article.
Recently, FOX aired the first season of Terra Nova, but the network is uncertain about the continuation of the series and is thinking of canceling the show altogether (according to various sources, such as: TV.com and Huffington Post). With this in mind, the Terra Nova viewing community and The Sci-Fi Congress have come together to create an online petition to show the mass support of the show.
Currently, at the present time and date of this article, the petition has approximately 7,500 signatures and is continuing to constantly grow at an hourly rate. To see this petition, visit this Sci-Fi Congress campaign page.
The petition also allows users to embed/post their signature on their Facebook and Twitter accounts to help spread the word. Spreading of the petition socially is the possible reason why the number of signatures are as high as they are.
The Twitter community has been very active in spreading the word about this petition, and I have provided some of the most prominent tweets from the Terra Nova fan community below:
