Instagram is a popular photo sharing app that lets users take a photo, apply filters, and share it on social sites. The Instagram team will be at SXSW 2012 in Austin and will be speaking at an assortment of panels at the event, including the following (parts of panel descriptions taken from the SXSW Scehdule): http://schedule.sxsw.com/
- Is Our Photo-Madness Creating Mediocrity or Magic?
- Design and the Mobile Startup
- On the Internet, Everyone Knows You’re a Dog
With the ease of photo-taking, editing, and posting, there is an overwhelming number of pictures posted regularly on social sites. There are over 100 million photos posted to Facebook alone every day. According to the SXSW 2012 schedule, this panel will discuss “the many ways in which the rise of mobile photography is affecting how we express our creativity, and how we connect and communicate every day.”
In the space between an idea for a product or service and its execution is the design stage. Designers have to be adaptable and flexible in order to negotiate the twists and turns of bringing an idea to fruition. A “panel of technologists, designers, and entrepreneurs, key players in some of today’s most successful mobile products will look at the “textbook” creative process in delivering user-centered results and delightful outcomes.”
With the advent of Facebook sign-ins to many websites, it is difficult to hide behind a handle or nickname, taking potshots at people on discussion boards with impunity. Now your comments are tied to a Facebook profile that shows you as a real person. With that loss of anonymity, things are changing. This panel “will discuss how technology is changing online self-expression.”
In addition, Instagram will be presenting the InstaMeet: Photowalk, Sunday, March 11 @ 1:30 PM, which you can view even if you are not at SXSW 2012.
