IAC, parent company of Vimeo, has announced that Kerry Trainor will take over as the new CEO of Vimeo. Trainor replace outgoing CEO Dae Mellencamp, who will remain with Vimeo as president. Trainor starts work at Vimeo on March 26th.
Trainor is currently with AOL, where he serves as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Entertainment for the Huffington Post Media Group. There he was in charge of all of AOL’s entertainment properties. He has also been head of Global Media Products for Yahoo! Music, and was co-founder and CEO of FlipGloss Media, which Forbes Media acquired in 2009.
Mellencamp has overseen the growth of Vimeo into one of the more popular video sharing sites on the internet. The site currently boasts 70 million unique visitors per month, and paid subscribers in the hundreds of thousands. Greg Blatt, CEO of IAC, said that he hoped “Kerry’s understanding of monetization and scale content businesses” would work well with “Dae’s keep product and community sensibility” to accelerate Vimeo’s already impressive growth.
