After lengthy negotiations, the New York Jets have officially named Tim Tebow their newest quarterback, amid a flurry of rumors and loud opinions as to whether or not Tebow will be a good fit for the team. Tebow will be backing up current Jets QB Mark Sanchez, who recently signed a 3-year renewal contract with New York.
The acquisition comes just days after the official announcement that Tebow’s former team, the Denver Broncos, had landed NFL golden boy Peyton Manning and would be trading Tebow out. The Jets announced that Tebow would be joining them yesterday but apparently spoke too soon, as shortly afterward the news broke that they hadn’t read the terms of his contract as carefully as they should have and were afraid they wouldn’t be able to afford him. There was even talk that the Jacksonville Jaguars, who’d had the same problem with Tebow earlier, were back in the running to acquire him in a trade.
But New York decided they could offer $2.53 million of a salary advance due to the young quarterback, and the Broncos apparently found that fair. Now Tebow will be a member of Gang Green, and his loyal fans will follow.
I cannot WAIT to see the New York media get TebowMania when Mark Sanchez starts 1-2 this year. Get your popcorn ready!!
Tebowmania vs. Linsanity in New York. Which would be greater?
Just when you thought Tebowmania had reach its zenith, a possible move to New York could alter the space time continuum.
