This is not your typical gaming competition. This isn’t even really a game, it’s a simulator used by professional drivers. This is a competition that is as real as it gets without actually being in a race car.
I am talking about the Intel GT Series World Championship, brought to you via the state of the art iRacing Motorsport Simulators.
The competition will feature a 30 minute qualifier followed by the actual 30 minute race using iRacing’s HPD-ARX 01C LMP2 car around Belgium’s Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps racecourse. In all, 32 virtual cars will by piloted by 32 very real drivers for an Intel Core i7 Extreme gaming computer, Intel SSD Drive, and Intel core i5 processors and motherboard.
Go to iRacing Live this Saturday at 3PM EST to see this highly realistic virtual competition for yourself.
IRacing is an incredibly accurate racing simulator used by professional drivers to practice and memorize tracks. Pro racers Justin Wilson, Alex Gurney, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Marcos Ambrose, Martin Truex Jr., AJ Allmendinger, Scott Speed, Shane Van Gisbergen, Jacques Villeneuve and others have all subscribed to the service and use it as a practice tool. For racing enthusiasts, it’s probably as close as they’ll ever get to driving along side their idols.
First iRacing race complete! Went from 11th to 4th on the first lap and finished on the podium. Loved it! 😀
