Facebook: Motion To Dismiss Ceglia’s Lawsuit

If you’ve been following the Facebook lawsuit brought by Paul Ceglia in 2010, you’ll remember that Ceglia produced a contract he claims was signed by Mark Zuckerberg giving him the rights to enormously successful networking site back in 2003. Facebook and Zuckerberg have been fighting the claims and most recently hired a team of forensic experts to search for evidence that would clear Facebook of the accusations.

Well the forensic experts have come forward with evidence that shows the documents Ceglia provided to illustrate his case are a fraud and the whole lawsuit has been a complete fabrication. Apparently they have found proof that Ceglia and his conspirators destroyed evidence and obstructed discovery, directly disobeying a court order.

Most importantly the forensic team says it has email documents dating back o Zuckerberg’s Harvard days that prove the lawsuit is a fraud. They have asked the judge presiding over the case to dismiss the suit based on the new findings.

It would be a good time to have the suit dismissed as Facebook is preparing for their IPO, and would best be served to have this case behind them. Ceglia is laying claim to half of Facebook. Last June Ceglia lost representation on his case, but it is not clear if he fired his attorneys or they quit. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with this one.
