The Cambridge News out of the UK reported that Stansted Airport workers were a little freaked out last Friday when they discovered an eight-foot albino reticulated python inside of one of the packages sent through for screening.
While using an X-Ray machine to view contents, one official noticed a snake shaped organic figure. Upon opening the box his suspicions were revealed. Below is an actual picture of the creature they found.
Apparently the snake was being shipped from Harlow in Essex to its new owner and had already spent eight hours inside the box. RSPCA inspector Steve Reeve comments on the shocking discovery:
“It may sound strange, but it would have been easy to miss the fact that there was such a large snake in this parcel.”
“It was just curled up and was very still – so the mailmen picking up the parcel would have had no reason to know what was inside.”
“All the machine picked up was that there was something organic in the shape of a snake – so they must have got quite a shock when they opened up the package. It makes you wonder what could go undetected.”
I thought people on Twitter might have some interesting things to say about this real-life instance of ‘Snakes on a Plane’ :
@bbcessex sender of a snake through the post was totally “thoughtless”. The python was discovered in a box at #Stansted Airport
