Given today is Major League Baseball’s official Opening Day (despite whatever confusing metric was used to determine it), Google Maps has put together a new video that features Google Earth’s 3D models of some of the league’s most storied stadiums, such as Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston.

Over at the Lat Long Blog, the Google Maps people have also compiled a list of Google tools that ball fans might find useful if you’re venturing out for an evening of American’s favorite pastime, such as the weather map feature so you can tell if you need to pack your poncho before heading out. With Google Maps for Mobile, not only can you easily get to the stadium with relative ease, but if you’ve got some time to kill you can always pop into the local dive bar and swill some worthy brews before heading to the stadium to begrudgingly fork over $5 for a plastic cup of tepid domestic beer. If you’re a fan of the away team and visiting a stadium for the first time, you can check out the area around the stadium via Google Street View so you’ll have a more accurate idea of what you’re looking for when you arrive.

Good luck, and watch out for foul balls!
