You may encounter some problems logging onto the Playstation Network today. That is because the company will be doing routine maintenance all day.
This means you will not be able to access the Playstation Store, Playstation Home, Account Management or play online. The maintenance will be going on for 13 hours, lasting from 9AM to 10PM.
Also, any site that is hosted on Playstation servers will be down during the maintenance, including the Playstation Blog.
The official Playstation Twitter account will be functional, so check back from time to time today for updates. If the maintenance needs to be extended for any reason, I’m sure this is where you will find the information on what’s going on.
Gamers are not too happy about this scheduled maintenance, but mostly because of the short notice. Don’t these people have jobs? One less day of gaming would probably be good for the kind of people angry with a server going down for maintenance – something that is necessary for all servers, especially one the size of the Playstation Network.
@PlayStation Why would this not be scheduled during AU business hours!?! It would cause more of an impact to users with the outage a/h
@PlayStation You guys need to give a warning much earlier than this. That’s less than 8 hours.
Really? You need more than eight hours to prepare for not playing video games?
This month marks the one year anniversary of a series of hacks on the Playstation Network that left the site crippled for several weeks. This has many people drawing conclusions about whether or not these things are related, and what the scheduled maintenance is actually trying to accomplish. Playstation has left no further details about what they will specifically be doing while the site is down.
