Rumors are swirling around a Halo 4 news announcement that will take place on Conan tonight. Based on tweets from two Microsoft insiders, it’s clear that Conan O’Brien will be involved in the unveiling of some “big” news about Halo4, and with all of the details already released about the game, what else besides a release date could be considered “big” news?

The first hint of the announcement came from Alison Stroll, a Senior Producer for 343 Industries, the video game development studio working on the new Halo title:

A little birdy (or was it Andy?) told us @TeamCoco will have some big Halo 4 news tomorrow. Stay tuned! #incoming #wakeupjon 17 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Thirty minutes later, Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb (“Major Nelson”) tweeted something similar, which was than re-tweeted by the @TeamCoco Twitter account:

Look for #Halo4 news on the way in the next 24 hours. Hint: @TeamCoco plays a part! 17 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Meanwhile, The Verge is reporting rumors of a November 6th release date based on “reliable sources close to Microsoft.” They also state that the release date could be announced before noon today. The most accurate official release window announced so far is “Holiday 2012,” which means November 6th, if not a confirmed date, is at least a good guess. Multiple A-list video game titles will be released in the months leading up to Christmas.

With Halo 4 being Xbox 360 gamers’ most anticipated release for 2012, I’m willing to bet that Conan might see a bit of a ratings boost tonight. Especially if fans get to see something as spectacular as Conan in MJOLNIR armor – or Andy Richter as Cortana.
