Facebook for Windows Phone is about to get a much-needed update. Facebook for Windows Phone 2.5 will be bringing several new features that users have been requesting for awhile now, including the ability to like comments, delete posts and comments, follow links in posts, and tag friends.

With most of those features, Facebook for Windows Phone is playing catch-up with the official Facebook app on other platforms. iPhone users, for example, have been able to like comments, delete posts, and follow in-post links for quite some time. One feature, though, is bound to make iPhone users jealous: the ability to tag in posts. That’s one feature that’s been a long time in coming to Facebook’s apps, and it looks like Windows Phone will be the first platform to feel the tagging love.

The coming update was announced in the wee hours of the morning (Eastern time) on Facebook by the Facebook for Windows Phone team. Here’s their announcement:

Meanwhile, Facebook for Windows Phone 2.4 appears to have come out pretty recently, though it appears to have been a pretty minor update. There’s no hard date for the 2.5 release, but this morning’s post makes it seem as though it could just be a matter of days.

Facebook for Windows Phone is available as a free download from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
