Arsenio Hall, the 56 year-old comedian and former 90’s talk show host, has beaten “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken on this season’s installment of “Celebrity Apprentice”. Aiken, who was hoping to cast off the annoying, ever-present “second best” title by claiming the top spot, ultimately had his hopes and dreams for such a reality destroyed with the utterance of one famous sentence: “You’re fired.”
“Arsenio worked hard and he did a great job and that’s why he won,” controversial host Donald Trump explained after the finale. The show played out in front of a live studio audience, which included Aiken’s own mother.
“My mother’s here tonight and she’s already sat through me losing once,” the “American Idol” runner-up said before the decision was handed down. “I feel like the last task was a comprehensive exam that we excelled at.”
Unfortunately for Aiken, it was Hall who came out on top of the game. In addition to the money he raised during the charity-driven variety show the contestants were charged with staging, Hall will receive an additional $250,000 for The Magic Johnson Foundation.
“I want to be No. 1. We’ve heard about Idol many times,” Hall said, “but when I was battling Johnny Carson [in the TV ratings] I was No. 2, when I entered a magic contest as a kid I was No. 2. I need to be No. 1!”
Naturally, not everyone thought that Hall should have won “Celebrity Apprentice”, may of whom are devoted Claymates. You can have a look at some Twitter reactions to the show’s finale by investigating the posts you see nestled below
