There’s a little sharing-site called Pinterest that’s been in the news a lot lately for various reasons, including their purported battle with Getty Images and their own users regarding copyrights. But a recent rumor, pretty much confirmed by TechCrunch yesterday, has the spotlight on them for a very different reason: much like George and Wheezy, they’re movin’ on up.
Based out of Palo Alto, the company started fairly smalll–still only boasting about 30 employees–but have built a little startup into a global phenomenon, surpassing Twitter for Facebook referrals. In fact, according to a Facebook blog posted earlier this year, Pinterest saw a 60% increase in Facebook users logging in every day. And according to TechCrunch, they’ve even stolen away a couple of Facebook employees to call their own. Pretty impressive for such a young company.
Of course, they do have a sudden influx of cash at their disposal, having raised $100 million from Japanese company Rakuten, and as their company grows they’ll need more space. Although nothing has been finalized yet, big wigs were looking at open property which just happens to be in the same space TechCrunch occupies.
