Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, best known for her her roles in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” films and on “Party Of Five”, has confirmed that her mother, Patricia, died of cancer on Tuesday at the age of 67.
Hewitt has said she had a very close relationship with her mom, who helped her gain a place in Hollywood at a young age by moving the family to L.A. in the late ’80s. Just one year later, Jennifer landed a role on the hugely popular show “Kids Incorporated”, which also starred a young Stacy Ferguson (a.k.a. Fergie, of the Black Eyed Peas). Patricia–who was a speech-pathologist–was reportedly always very supportive of her daughter’s career, laughing off the tabloid stories and speculation on Jennifer’s physical assets.
“She was like, ‘So let’s review … For 15 years people have been talking about your boobs. Earlier this year, you wrote about your hoo-ha in a book. Now you’re playing a crack ho on TV.’ She was like, ‘Do you think maybe you could do an animated movie next?’ ” Jennifer once said.
Hewitt’s family released a statement regarding her passing, calling her an “angel” and asking for the public to give the family privacy at this difficult time.
