“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov’s big-screen adaptation of author Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name, made history by having its debut screening for troops deployed in the Middle East. Approximately 1800 sailors braved the extreme heat — 90 degrees and 100 percent humidity, according to reports — to gather inside the USS Abraham Lincoln’s hangar bay to watch the highly-anticipated motion picture. The icing on the cake, of course, was the appearance of cast members Anthony Mackie, Erin Wasson, and Benjamin Walker, the latter of whom was dressed as the former President himself.

“The crew of USS Abraham Lincoln was very happy that Twentieth Century Fox and Navy Entertainment hosted the movie’s cast and crew out to the ship,” LCDR Steven Curry explained. “We had a great time watching the movie, meeting the cast and more importantly showing them why we are out here supporting operations in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility.”

After the movie was over, several sailors on board the ship stuck around to get autographs from the cast and crew, many of whom posed with star Benjamin Walker in the captain’s chair. According to Fox News, Walker reportedly spent nearly five hours in make-up to prepare for his appearance as Abraham Lincoln.

Unfamiliar with this particular flick? Take a look at this synopsis:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.

Look for Timur Bekmambetov’s cinematic blood-sucker to sink its teeth into movie-goers on June 22nd. If you missed the previously-released trailer for the flick, take a look at the video embedded below. It’s actually a lot cooler than you think it is. No promises, though.
