Google is famous for creating funny, touching, beautiful, and innovative doodles on their homepage for various holidays and special occasions, and also to celebrate important milestones for people who have been integral to our history. Sometimes they employ famed artists to create the doodle and pay homage to the subject, but the Google team is also capable of making some cool eyecandy, as well.
Today’s Doodle celebrates dads, as families everywhere are showing love for their patriarch on Father’s Day. The Doodle is a sweet little animated logo which shows a tiny letter “e” using a remote-controlled robot to serve Dad (letter “l”) his coffee.
The origin of Father’s Day is the simple story of a woman who thought dads deserved the same honor that mothers receive every year. Sonora Louise Smart Dodd celebrated the first Father’s Day on June 19, 1910 – her father’s birthday. The day was later declared a national holiday by President Lyndon Johnson in 1966.
