THQ has announced today that the planned expansion pack for Saints Row: The Third titled Enter the Dominatrix has been cancelled. Instead, the content has been rolled into the development of the next Saints Row game, which THQ states is currently titled “The Next Great Sequel in the Saints Row Franchise.”

“When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise,” said THQ President Jason Rubin. “I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that’s why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013.”

While moving the Enter the Dominatrix content to 2013 (the current promised land of video game release dates) is a blow to Saints Row fans, it comes as some consolation that the next Saints Row game looks to be even more crazy and bawdy than The Third. And while the announcement might be disappointing for fans, its even more disappointing for investors who demand short-term profits and quick returns. THQ was clear in its statement that the delay meant a $20 million reduction to its sales estimates for fiscal year 2013.
