Adrian Peterson, NFL star extraordinaire, recently got himself arrested following an altercation with off-duty police officers at a nightclub in Houston, Texas. Sports Illustrated reports that Peterson was attempting to get some water right before the club was scheduled to close, an incident which caused the officers clearing out the joint to become more than a little irritated with the professional athlete. When Peterson was told that he had to leave the club at that very moment, the Minnesota Vikings’ running back decided he was sick and tired of being told what to do. This is where things get sketchy.

According to TMZ, Peterson was arrested after shoving one of the off-duty officers, who was working as a security guard at the club when the incident took place. After repeatedly reminding the football star to take a hike, Peterson allegedly yelled, “Hey man, we heard you the first time!” before turning his irritation into physical intimidation. It was around this time that Peterson was placed under arrest, though he didn’t go down without a fight.

Here’s the kicker: It took three officers to properly wrangle the NFL player, which I’m sure wasn’t fun for anyone involved. As always, someone in the club that night was armed with a camera, allowing them to capture the showdown on video. TMZ, of course, managed to get their hands on a copy, which you can find embedded below.

Details surrounding the arrest, as well as the charges currently levied against him, are few and far between at this moment in time. However, Peterson did recently take to Twitter to drop some knowledge courtesy of Winston Churchill.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for someone to cook up a zinger.

In order to defend himself against these charges, Peterson has hired attorney Rusty Hardin, the man who successfully defended baseball star Roger Clemens after Congress accused him of lying about using performance-enhancing drugs. Given that Hardin has experience representing professional athletes who have had brushes with the law, this might be a smart move on Peterson’s part. Assuming, of course, that he did something wrong.
