Vera Wang, the famed bridal gown designer who dresses the stars for their nuptials, has split from her husband of 23 years, Arthur Becker.

Wang and Becker wed in 1989 and, after she had a hard time finding a wedding gown she loved, she set out to launch her own designs. At the time she was a design director for Ralph Lauren, but she soon opened her own signature shop inside the Carlyle Hotel. Becker, a stockbroker, became pretty heavily involved over the years in the business aspect of her brand, and a friend of the couple said the company will not suffer due to the dissolution of their marriage.

“They will not let this impact the running of the company. They have worked too hard to build it up.”

Wang and Becker have two daughters; a spokesperson for the company, Mario Grauso, released a statement regarding their breakup, saying they will continue to put their children first.

“Vera Wang and Arthur Becker have mutually and amicably agreed to separate. They remain devoted parents to their two daughters,” he said in the statement.

Wang has dressed many stars for their big day, including Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys. For her Fall 2012 collection, she has incorporated black and neutral shades for a ethereal, gothic look.
