Norman Alden, Character Actor, Dies at 87

Do you remember “Lou the Mechanic” from the old AL Delco commercials? That was the work of Norman Alden, a great character actor from Fort Worth, Texas, who died this past Friday.

Norman Alden was known for various television and movie roles, spanning from Coach Leroy Fedders in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1976-1977) to playing various characters in Murder, She Wrote (1986-1988). Alden also performed various small roles, such as: Buddy Owens in Starsky & Hutch (1978), Chief Lacey in The Dukes of Hazzard (1979), Lou in Back to the Future (1985), and the voice of both Kranix and Arblus in Transformers (1986).

Unfortunately, this past Friday (July 27th, 2012), Norman Alden died of natural causes in Los Angeles, California. Alden was 87 years of age.
