A London bus struck a young bike rider near the Olympic park last night and dragged him under, killing him instantly. The double-decker was being used to transport members of the media back and forth between game venues.

The victim, 28-year old Dan Harris, is being remembered today by friends and family who are stricken by the tragic circumstances, and while the driver was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, he was later released on bail.

Olympic cyclist Bradley Wiggins, who is now the most decorated British Olympian of all time, says that although laws have changed over the years to make the roads safer for bikers, there is still plenty of room for error. He also said there should be a law regarding cyclists wearing helmets.

“…I think things are improving to a degree – there are organisations out there who are attempting to make the roads safer for both parties. But at the end of the day we’ve all got to co-exist on the roads. Cyclists are not ever going to go away as much as drivers moan, and as much as cyclists maybe moan about certain drivers they are never going to go away, so there’s got to be a bit of give and take.”

According to The Sun, Harris described himself as a social media strategist, community manager, and web editor.
