The Tennessee Titans have confirmed that they will start quarterback Jake Locker in their season opener against the New England Patriots on September 9.
While the decision seems to have the approval of Titans owner Bud Adams, and Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck has even said he’ll help Locker in any way he can, fans are somewhat divided over the decision.
As one might expect, there seems to be a pretty even mix of criticism and optimism about the decision on Twitter:
Jake Locker named Titans starting QB for the season opener versus the Patriots. Glad they’re giving the kid a chance #Let‘sGetIt
I’m really rootin for jake locker this year
Jake Locker named Titans starting quarterback. I got faith in him too. Let’s go #10
The Titans are going to be terrible this year with Jake Locker as their quarterback.

Jake Locker is not ready to be a NFL starter he may be doing better but he is gonna get on the field late in a clutch situation and choke
Jake Locker is going to put on a show in Week 1.
The Titans selected Locker with the 8th overall pick in the 2011 draft, out of Washington. While filling in for the injured Hasselbeck last year, Locker threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another. After he plays in the Patriots game, I suspect Twitter’s reaction will be much more one-sided.
