Google just announced the launch of its new YouTube app for Xbox, which it says is five times faster. This complements the recently launched Playstation app. In addition to the speed improvement, the app also adds channels with official music videos.

“With this new app, viewers have an improved YouTube experience, and YouTube creators have a better platform to build audiences for their channels,” a YouTube spokesperson tells WebProNews.

Google said in a Google+ post, “For Xbox LIVE Gold members, the app will update automatically when you login, or you can download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace.”

YouTube is currently available on 350 million devices, and according to Google, the highest weekday viewing occurs during prime time evening hours across all devices.
