Katie Couric, who was recently granted exclusive interview rights with the Royal family for an ABC special during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, says she still wants to sit down and talk to Kate Middleton. But Couric, who’s known for not holding back during interviews, might have some advice for the young Royal: eat a cheeseburger.
“I think it would be really interesting to interview Kate Middleton because I think she has comported herself so well since she has been thrust in the limelight,” Katie said. But, she says, “I think she needs to eat more because she’s so thin.”
Of course, Couric’s remarks won’t be taken lightly by the family as they touch upon rumors that Middleton has an eating disorder which could be impeding her progress on the path to pregnancy. It’s also bringing up bad memories of an interview with Princess Diana, where she admitted a battle with bulimia and said the Royals considered it a “waste of food”.
As with anyone in the public eye, Middleton’s weight will always be a topic of discussion, whether it’s because she’s too thin or too chunky. Despite more than one public figure coming forward to speak out about the unhealthy obsession we seem to have with everyone else’s appearance, it doesn’t seem like a problem that will go away anytime soon, especially for those in the media.
