“Always Sunny” Has A New, Surprising Cast

If you’re a fan of the FX show “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” (and you should be), you’re probably aware that the last couple of seasons haven’t been up to the same disgusting, depraved, hilarious level that former seasons have been. While there were some gems–Frank and his “rum ham”, for instance–recent episodes haven’t been able to touch the comedy gold that is the McPoyles, or Frank dropping acid and getting trapped in an RV, or Sweet Dee getting all ‘roided out, or Frank and Charlie fighting over who pooped the bed. Or “Nightman”, for Thor’s sake.

Over the past couple of years, the cast members have had children (Kaitlyn Olson (Sweet Dee) and Rob McElhenney (Mac) married each other and have two kids; Charlie Day is married to Mary Elizabeth Ellis (the Waitress), and since then, it’s almost seemed like their hearts haven’t been in it. Although, Rob gaining fifty pounds to play Fat Mac is up there in terms of commitment.

But it seems like the old crew might be ready to knock us out with the upcoming season, as they’ve put together a charming little promo for the show under the guise that they’ve all been replaced by the most random group of people ever (except Haley Osment as Mac. That one I called years ago).

The new season begins Thursday, October 11th on FX.
