In another move to strengthen the “explore” functionality of their app, Foursquare has added an awesome new integration to the mobile experience. Now, users can make restaurant reservations via OpenTable without ever leaving the Foursquare app.

“Now when you’re searching for the perfect dinner spot with Explore on iPhone or Android, you’re just a few taps away from making a reservation. Foursquare’s teamed up with OpenTable to provide painless in-app reservation making at thousands of restaurants across the U.S., no phone calls necessary,” says Foursquare in a blog post.

Once you’ve found the restaurant you want to patronize, you’ll know that it’s an OpenTable partner location if is has a “Make Reservation” tab on its page. Click that and you’ll see this:

It’s that easy.

Foursquare recently added After Credits app to their list of connected apps, which are third party apps that show users additional information based on their check-ins, once a user connects the app to their account. Foursquare connected apps include the likes of The Weather Channel, Path, and Foodspotting. The OpenTable integration is different from these connected apps. It is built right into the Foursquare experience, no third party connections needed.

This OpenTable integration has been available on the web version of Foursquare since May, but having it on the mobile app is about 100x more logical.

Foursquare also just shipped new updates to their iOS and Android apps, bringing new search categories and iPhone 5 compatibility to the prior and the “nearby friends” feature back to the latter.
