Caroline Wozniacki, who has taken some heat this year for a less-than-stellar performance, is now garnering criticism for something which has nothing to do with the sport she plays.
As it goes with so many young athletes these days, looks play a big part in how well they are received in the media and with the public. In a time of instant gratification, when a photo can make rounds on the web within a matter of minutes and either earn fame or do lasting damage, one misstep can cause a huge uproar on social media sites like Twitter.
It’s not an “uproar” yet, but the main point of a recent Busted Racquet article certainly has people talking: Wozniacki’s choice of outfits on the tennis court on Wednesday, a Stella McCartney skirt which this untrained eye can find no fault with.
The article does make mention, however, that 22-year old Wozniacki was named the top women’s player in the U.S. last year, only to slip all the way to number 11 this year. The star says she was focusing on too many promotions and not enough on her game, though it’s possible that the media getting distracted with her clothing could play a part as well.
