I’m not sure if there’s a ton to be gained by rereleasing Jurassic Park in 3D – on a purely cinematic level. Admittedly, I’m not 3D’s biggest proponent, but it’s unclear whether seeing the island and its inhabitants jump out of the screen will really add anything to what is already a stunning film – both visually and otherwise.
But rereleasing it, 3D or not, is something I can get behind. When Jurassic Park hit the theaters, I was seven years old. The adults responsible for me were pretty awesome so I got to see it in theaters. Jurassic Park is a movie you want to see in the theaters, no matter how many times you’ve caught it on cable. And for that reason alone, simply so more people can experience it on the big screen, it’s worth it.
Oh, and it will probably rake in plenty of cash.
Check out the new trailer for Jurassic Park 3D, which is really an old trailer refashioned as a new trailer. Oh well, anything involving Jurassic Park gives me a hit of nostalgia that I can’t help but cough over. Put away those damn onions, will ya?

Jurassic Park 3D is set to his theaters in April of 2013 in celebration of the original film’s 20th anniversary. Jurassic Park 4, on the other hand, may be on the way a little on down the road.
