A boat crash in the Florida Keys this weekend flung passengers into the water and injured nine people. According to an ABC report, authorities are now considering charges related to the incident.
A 36-foot boat carrying 16 people near Elliott Key, Florida was struck on Sunday evening by a 28-foot boat carrying two people. People in the larger boat were thrown into the water, and the smaller boat sank in the aftermath. Nine of the passengers were injured, including one that had to be rescued using a fire rescue helicopter. No children were injured in the crash.
Though alcohol was not reportedly a factor in the accident, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is conducting an investigation. At issue is whether either boat captain violated Florida boating rules.
