At first, Disney Infinity seemed like a shameless attempt to copy Activision’s Skylanders franchise. As more information is revealed, however, Disney Infinity seems to have only taken the idea of physical toy tie ins. Everything else is looking pretty amazing.
The latest trailer, which showcases the Toy Box World Creation aspect of Disney Infinity, reeks of Minecraft but in all the right ways. The game allows players to create custom worlds based upon hundreds of Disney worlds and franchises. The kid in me demands I preorder this.
Disney Infinity is probably going to be a huge hit when it launches later this year. Kids love Disney, video games and toys so it just seems like the perfect marriage of elements. It also doesn’t hurt that the game ships with some pretty popular characters – Mr. Incredible, Jack Sparrow and Sully.
Disney Infinity launches August 18 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U and 3DS.
