Most fans of “Star Wars” couldn’t think of a better place to have their own wedding, so it’s no surprise that when George Lucas decided to tie the knot for the second time, he did it at Skywalker Ranch.
The land–which has cost Lucas upwards of $100 million–is laid out over 4,700 acres in Marin County, California and is largely secluded from main roads, making it the perfect spot for a wedding. The Saturday fete included quite a few celebrities on the guest list, and Van Morrison and Janelle Monae both performed.
“It was a gathering of people who have known George and Mellody for a very long time. It was an extraordinary day filled with so much love,” Lucas spokeswoman Lynne Hale said. “To have Bill Moyers who has such a long history with George officiate the ceremony and Bill Bradley–who has known Mellody since she was 17–walk her down the aisle touched everyone’s heart.”
Hobson is the head of Ariel investments and is also a chairwoman at Dreamworks Animation. The couple have been together for six years.
