Fourth of July accidents are unfortunately not uncommon on the holiday. From fireworks to parade mishaps, people will be injured or killed.

One of the scarier accidents on Thursday happened in Simi Valley, California. The city was setting off fireworks when the platform that held the fireworks turned over sending the explosives into the crowd. An estimated 28 people were injured in the explosion. Here’s video of the accident courtesy of YouTube user camstack1:

After the accident, the police evacuated the area and shut down the event. The police also said that four of the 28 injured were considered seriously injured, but their current status is unknown.

Unfortunately, the fireworks incident wasn’t the only accident to happen on Thursday. In Edmond, Oklahoma, an 8-year-old boy fell off of a float during a parade, and was run over by said float. He was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.

On a final and more lighthearted note, let’s take a look back at a humorous accident that happened last year when the city of San Diego launched its entire firework payload in the span of 15 seconds. Nobody was hurt except for the pride of some city workers.
