Project CARS is one of the most ambitious racing games ever made. The team at Slightly Mad Studios has been working with its community to create a simulation racer that outclasses even the big budget racing games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport.

Slightly Mad Studios released a new trailer today featuring all new in-game footage of its cars, tracks and the day-night cycle. The team has also put considerable work into capturing the sounds of racing.

It looks absolutely stunning, doesn’t it? It seems almost unreal that a game made by a small team can look this good, but then you remember that CARS stands for Community Assisted Racing Simulation. That community assistance comes in the form of players buying Tool Packs which gives them the opportunity to directly interact with the developers, and help steer the direction of development. Racing fans are some of the most passionate in the industry, and their guidance will shape Project CARS into something truly special.

Project CARS will be released in 2014 on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. The team says that it may build PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title, but only if it’s able to secure additional funding.
