Do you love the look and feel of the HTC One, but hate its size? HTC apparently thinks there’s a lot of you. That’s why it’s releasing a scaled down version of its latest flagship smartphone.

HTC announced today that it will be releasing the HTC One Mini in select markets this August. The smaller phone will feature all the style of the HTC One without the size or the advanced specs of its older brother. That doesn’t mean you’ll be getting a bad phone, however, as the One Mini still has plenty of kick.

The HTC One Mini will feature a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core 1.4 Snapdragon 400 CPU, 16GB of internal storage and Android 4.2. It also features all of the software improvements that came with the HTC One – including BlinkFeed, Zoe and BoomSound. The only downside is that the One Mini has ditched the NFC chip and IR blaster that were present in the original HTC One.

The HTC One Mini is obviously a direct response to Samsung’s mini line that began with the Galaxy S III Mini and continued with the Galaxy S4 Mini. There’s a market for smaller smartphones, and HTC isn’t going to let Samsung have all the marketshare.
