It looked like Gearbox officially wrapped up Borderlands 2 in June with the release of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. After all, it was the last DLC update that was included as part of the season pass. As it turns out, however, Gearbox is going to keep delivering new content for the rest of this year as well.
At its PAX Australia panel over the weekend, Gearbox announced that Borderlands 2 would be receiving two new DLC packs later this year. The first is called the Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge. The pack will include all new weapons and enemies while also increasing the level cap to 72.
The second DLC expansion will be called the Headhunter Pack, and it will bring T.K. Baha from the first Borderlands. The expansion will feature multiple missions that culminate in a boss fight against Jacque O’Lantern. 2K also teased in a subsequent press release that it would release more DLC packs with “uniquely-themed boss fights” throughout this year and next.
Neither pack will be a part of the season pass as all of the content that was part of that pack has been released. Players will have to pay $5 for the Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 when it’s released later this year. There’s been no price announced for the Headhunter Pack yet, but it will probably cost $10. It will also be released later this year.
