Baby Jasleen, Germany’s new largest baby, was born on July 26 in Leipzig and shocked doctors with her unusually large size.
Jasleen’s mother reportedly suffered from an undiagnosed case of gestational diabetes, which can lead to severe health problems for both mother and baby when left untreated and often leads to heavier birth weights. Weighing in at 13.47 pounds and measuring 22.6 inches long, Jasleen qualifies as the country’s largest baby born vaginally. Oh yes, kids, her mom didn’t have a C-section. Ouch. But, to quote Roseanne, “Muscles stretch. Bones break.”
Both mom and baby are said to be doing well, although Jasleen is still in the NICU for the time being.
