You can add another Netflix original series to the growing list of dramas set to premiere some time next year.

TV Guide is reporting that the streaming company has acquired the rights to Marco Polo, a new series about one of the world’s most famous travelers.

The series is described as the story of “the world’s greatest storyteller, an epic and cinematic adventure of high politics, masterful manipulation and deadly warfare.” It’s a nine-episode venture that’s set to take place during the 13th century – Polo’s early years in the court of Kublai Khan.

The series, a Weinstein production, was originally set to air on Starz, but Netflix picked it up after progress on it stalled. The show is written and directed by John Fusco, a screenwriter known for Young Guns, Thunderheart, Hidalgo, and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Starz first announced the series back in January of 2012.

Marco Polo joins two other exclusive series set to debut on Netflix in 2014: Narcos, which will tell the story of notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, and Sense8, the new sci-fi series from The Matrix‘s Wachowskis.

Also, don’t forget that we’ll be getting the second season of House of Cards, as well as the already-confirmed second season of Hemlock Grove and Orange is the New Black.
