Liza Minnelli found the strength to perform a concert last night, despite having a broken wrist. The aging star seems to still have a few tricks up her sleeve, and while she was advised not to do so, she went ahead and performed through an injury. During the performance, she shared the stage with her half-sister Lorna Luft, and it has been a very long time since the two have performed together.
She went against doctors orders in order to support her sister, and kept her left wrist temporarily stabilized with a white cast and pink bandana. She was not going to let a little injury interfere with helping to promote the benefit show, which was designed to support The Actors Fund’s Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and Tower Cancer Research Foundation’s Dr. Philomena McAndrew Fund.
A representative for Minnelli said that she broke her wrist in three places, while rehearsing for the show on Sunday night. The doctors had told her not to perform in her condition, but the show was just too important for her to miss out on it. Her sister, Luft, is currently in a battle with breast cancer and the show was very important for her to help her sister’s cause.

Minnelli and her sister Luft performed at the iconic Birdland jazz club on Monday, October 14th. This marks the first time that they have appeared on a stage together as a duet in over 20 years, with the last time being a performance at the 1993 Tony Awards.
The two singers share a mother in the late legend of film, Judy Garland, but have different fathers. In addition to her musical career, Liza Minnelli has also appeared in numerous films, notably and television shows, notably Cabaret, which she acted and sang in. Many viewers in recent years have also fallen in love with her character Lucille Austero on Arrested Development.
