Capcom made a lot of courtroom drama fans happy this year when it announced that the latest Phoenix Wright game – Dual Destinies – would be localized for the West. Unfortunately, the game is not getting a physical release in the U.S., but at least we’re getting it on the eShop.

In this week’s Nintendo Download, the big game release is Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney – Dual Destines. Here’s the official synopsis from Capcom:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies sees the return of courtroom hero Phoenix Wright. The much-loved game play and features from previous games in the Ace Attorney series are back, but for the first time in stunning 3D graphics, bringing the courtroom and characters to life and putting players directly in the heart of the action.

If you’ve never played a Phoenix Wright game before, you’re in for a treat if you decide to jump in with this latest title. It doesn’t require any knowledge of the previous games’ events, but it will help you to enjoy this latest game more if you do.

As for other 3DS titles, this week’s Nintendo Download sees two other retail games hitting the eShop – Sonic Lost World and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The first is the handheld tie-in to Sonic Lost World on the Wii U whereas the latter is a sequel of sorts to Batman: Arkham Origins. Sonic Lost World for Nintendo 3DS will be available on October 29 whereas Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will become available on October 25.

As for the Wii U eShop, retail games are getting a lot of love as well with the release of Sonic Lost World, Batman Arkham Origins and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag over the next week.

Sonic Lost World is the latest Sonic the Hedgehog game that attempts to perfect the 3D Sonic formula that Sonic Team came ever so close to doing with Sonic Generations. The critics are split as to whether or not Sonic Lost World accomplished its goal, but they all agree that it’s one of the prettiest Wii U games to date. Sonic Lost World hits the eShop on October 29.

Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to Rocksteady’s Arkham franchise that began with Batman: Arkham Asylum. Newcomer Warner Bros. Montreal are taking over development duties this time around, however, and are putting players into the shoes of a less experienced Batman as he takes on numerous assassins on Christmas Eve. It should be noted that the Wii U version lacks the multiplayer component found in the other console and PC versions. Batman: Arkham Origins hits the Wii U eShop tomorrow on October 25.

The final retail title hitting the Wii U eShop is Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. In this game, players take on the role of Edward Kenway – a pirate captain that will cross swords with some of the most infamous pirates from history. It will hit the Wii U eShop on October 29.

Here are the other games launching on the Nintendo eShop in the next week.

  • Baseball (Virtual Console on Wii U)
