31-year-old and 9 month pregnant, Rachel Poole, was talking to her husband, Justin Pele Poole, on FaceTime Wednesday night when an intruder stabbed her multiple times.

According to El Paso police, 19-year-old, Corey Bernard Moss, a Fort Bliss soldier arrived at Poole’s home to confront her husband about money he owed him. Poole was not home, so he forced his way in and hid until she returned. After arriving, Poole turned on Face Time to chat with her husband who is currently stationed overseas, unaware that someone was in her home. Shortly after, Moss attacked her from behind continuously beating and stabbing her with a stainless steel knife.

Poole told police she recognized the intruder and started yelling his name so her husband could hear it over the phone. She called 911 and was rushed to University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. She suffered from multiple stab wounds as well as fractures to her body and face.

Meanwhile, her husband called Moss’ co-workers to give them a heads up and they were able to get the knife from him to turn over to police. Moss was taken into custody and was turned over to the El Paso police. He is being charged criminal attempted murder and is being held on a $60,000 bail.

Poole and her new daughter Izzy have a long way to go, but are alive and making gradual progress. Poole’s husband is remaining by her and their daughter’s side all day everyday, walking from room to room to care for them both.
