Back in September Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, a mobile game based around the setting of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Today the publisher has announced that the game will hit both iOS and Android platforms on December 5. The game will be sold in Apple’s App Store, the Google Play store, and the Amazon Appstore for $5.

Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will focus on the naval combat that is a major part of Black Flag. Players will take on the role of Alonzo Batilla, a Caribbean pirate during the early 18th century. Gameplay will consist of recruiting and managing a crew, upgrading ships, and engaging in real-time naval battles.

While collecting treasure, players will also come across a variety of characters featured in the full Assassin’s Creed IV game. Pirates such as Blackbeard will be part of the mobile game, as will both assassins and Templars.

For those skeptical of a mobile Assassin’s Creed game (and who wouldn’t be), Ubisoft is claiming that it created a new mobile engine for Pirates. The publisher is touting the graphics of the mobile game, which can be seen in a new teaser trailer released today:
