With the success of Grand Theft Auto V fading and the botched rollout of Grand Theft Auto Online finally fixed, Rockstar is now turning again to mobile platforms. The developer has already found success in bringing its most-recognized franchise to mobile with Grand Theft Auto III in 2011 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2012.

Rockstar today announced that it will be keeping with recent tradition and releasing a GTA game for mobile this holiday season. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be coming to mobile sometime during December. The game will be released for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle, and Windows Phones, though only for “select” devices. Though pricing for the title has not been announced, it is likely to be similar to GTA III and Vice City, which were both priced at $5.

Rockstar claims that the mobile version will have all of the content of the original San Andreas (minus the hot coffee, presumably). In addition, the developer is also touting improvements over the PlayStation 2 version of the game. The mobile version of San Andreas will have “remastered graphics” which encompass more detailed shadows, a new color palette, new character models, and an extended draw distance.

San Andreas for mobile will also, of course, have a new touchscreen control interface, which includes a new checkpoint save system. The game will also, thankfully, include support for controllers
