Gail Sandidge, an R.N. at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas, died Tuesday morning as the result of stab wounds inflicted on her at the hospital where she worked. Around 7:00 a.m., 22-year-old Kyron Rashaun Templeton allegedly stabbed Sandidge to death and wounded four other individuals. Templeton left the scene, but was later arrested on nearby Sixth Street.
Multiple sources told police that they encountered Templeton in the hallway, bearing a knife and yelling, “You’re not going to kill my mother!” Templeton allegedly then attacked the nurse, and she was pronounced dead a short time later. Four other people were also wounded in the incident.
Steve Altmiller, the president of Good Shepherd Health System, posted an official statement:
“The Good Shepherd family tragically lost a member of our team this morning. All of the victims were taken to the emergency center for assessment and treatment…”
Altmiller then praised the diligent efforts of the police who had worked on the case, as well as the hospital staff.
Kyron Templeton was arraigned Tuesday afternoon, being charged with 1 count murder, 4 counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $2.6 million.
