Construction worker, Angel Garcia, was working for Lindamood Demolition when he fell four stories from Texas A&M’s Kyle Field. According to a statement released by the university, the accident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the north end of Kyle Field.
25-year-old Garcia was taken to the St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Bryan, Texas, where he later died from injuries he sustained during the fall.
“On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away,” Texas A&M President, R. Bowen Loftin, said in a statement.
Kyle Field has been under construction while $450 million in upgrades are being completed. Some of the upgrades include new grass and expanding seating from 82,600 to 102,500. Once finished, the stadium will be the largest in the Southeastern Conference.
The accident is being investigated by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Texas A&M University System, and university police.
