Netflix shows continue to rack up award nominations. The Writers Guild Awards nominations for 2014 are out, and House of Cards and Orange is the New Black make a total of seven appearances.
House of Cards is nominated for Drama Series, New Series and Episodic Drama – Episode 101. Orange is the New Black is nominated for Comedy Series, New Series, and twice for Episodic Comedy – Pilot and Lesbian Request Denied (the latter was the famous Jodie Foster-directed episode).
People’s Choice Awards nominations came out a month ago with Netflix’s Arrested Development, House of Cards and Orange is the New Black all competing in the same category – Favorite Streaming Series.
Netflix shows were nominated for a combined fourteen Emmys, and ultimately took home three – each for House of Cards (directing, casting and cinematography). Hemlock Grove and Arrested Development also had a few nominations, but no wins. Orange is the New Black was released too late for eligibility, but look out for it in 2014.
Netflix announced this week that House of Cards: Season 2 will make its debut on Valentine’s Day. Orange is the New Black: Season 2 is currently in production, and will be released on an unannounced date in 2014.
