Taylor Swift tops 2013’s DoSomething.org list of charitable celebrities. This is the second year in a row the singer has earned this spot by giving selflessly of herself to those less fortunate.

Taylor donated $100,000 to the Nashville Symphony and she headlined the Winter Whites gala in London. That event donates its proceeds to a charity that aids homeless youth. Swift has been a philanthropist since she burst on to the music scene and began making money from her albums and concert appearances.

One Direction came in second to Taylor Swift. Taking the number two spot on the “Celebs Gone Good” list is no small feat either. The British boy band, known for hit singles like Take Me Home and What Makes You Beautiful volunteered with Comic Relief in Ghana. Two of the band’s members–Liam Payne and Harry Styles–raised more than $800,000 for a London cancer research nonprofit.

The One Direction guys and Taylor Swift are in good company on the “Celebs Gone Good” list. They are followed by Beyonce, the late Paul Walker, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Sandra Bullock, Kerry Washington, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Seacrest and Carrie Underwood–and that’s just the top ten alone. You can check out the entire list of 20 in this tweet.

Kudos are definitely in store for Taylor Swift as well as all of these celebrities who donate a portion of their time and their money to help other people. They certainly serve to set a shining example to countless other celebrities who could also lend a hand in places where it is so desperately needed.
